Hello Landcarers, Bushcarers and all who care for the environment,
As 2023 draws to a close, we reflect on a highly productive year for Greater Sydney Landcare.

What Did We Achieve This Year?
This year, Greater Sydney Landcare:
-
- Planted over 59,000 trees plus thousands of shrubs and grasses for the Creating Canopies project to cool the city and improve habitat.
- Cared for Koala habitat and the Cumberland Plain.
- Monitored water quality in the creeks and streams across Greater Sydney with Streamwatch.
Stronger Together
We also brought together the major Landcare networks across Greater Sydney so that we can work more productively together. These groups include:
We also brought together groups of people interested in koalas, the Cumberland Plain and our waterways.
We are looking to grow new networks in some parts of Greater Sydney next year, so please contact us if your group is interested in getting involved.
Looking Forward
New projects that we have recently started include:
-
- Streamwatch in schools in south-eastern Sydney
- Post-fire support in south-western Sydney working with the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative
We also look forward to working on the new Landcare Enabling Program and Private Land Matters Project in 2024.
Thank You & Happy Holidays
Thank you to all land owners, land managers, grant authorities, Landcare NSW and Greater Sydney Local Land Services for working with us and supporting us over the past year.
We also thank all GSL members for their continued support, and for those who aren’t members please consider joining us as your support helps us to run our organisation and support our many projects.
And importantly we thank the many volunteers who have helped us deliver our projects.
We wish all of you a happy and safe holiday period and a wonderful New Year – and we look forward to continuing to work with you all in the new year to make a difference!
Kind regards,
Bev Debrincat
Chair of Greater Sydney Landcare
